Join Mark Goodwin, Gerhart Wilke, and Rachel Gibbons for a day of in-depth discussion and experiential learning on applying group analytic thinking in organisational consultancy.

This in-person event at the Institute of Group Analysis will offer:

Diverse Perspectives: Insights from three experienced group analysts, each bringing their unique frameworks and expertise to organisational consultancy.

Learning Opportunity: A deeper understanding of how group analytic thinking applies to organisational settings.

Experiential Sessions: Engage in facilitated experiential sessions with two of the consultants, focusing on practical challenges in organisational work.

Large Group Discussion: Reflect on the day’s insights, share experiences, and integrate learnings.

Networking: Connect with professionals and experienced organisational consultants to exchange ideas and perspectives.

Programme:

Morning Sessions:

9:30 – 9:45am: Welcome

9:45am – 10:45 am: Mark Goodwin

10:45 am – 11:00am: Break

11:00am – 11:30am: Rachel Gibbons

11:30am – 12:30pm: Gerhart Wilke

Each session will be followed by a 15-minute group discussion.

12:30pm – 1:30pm (1 hour): Break

Experiential Component: (2 x 45-minute sessions)

Participants will choose one of the organisational consultants to work on practical issues in their practice.

1:30pm – 2:15pm: First Session

2:15pm – 2:30pm: Break

2:30pm – 3:15pm: Second Session

3:15pm – 4:00pm: Break

4:00pm – 5:00pm: Large Group Discussion. An opportunity to reflect collectively on key insights of the day.

Honouring Gwen Adshead

A Half Day Event

Friday 20th June, 1:30pm – 6:15pm.

We welcome attendance by members and non-members to celebrate the work of our colleague.

Dr Gwen Adshead qualified as a group analyst at the IGA in 2000. She is a forensic psychiatrist and psychotherapist in the NHS; an award-winning author; Honorary Clinical Professor, School of Psychology, University of Exeter; Past President, International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy; Honorary Fellow, Royal College of Psychiatrists and recipient of its President’s medal for her work in medical ethics.

Gwen delivered the BBC’s Reith Lectures in 2024, the first mental health specialist to do so. She delivered some of the lectures in a prison setting, another first.

On welcoming Gwen back to the IGA, she will speak about her years of practice in the field; background and training at the IGA; contribution to forensic psychotherapy; and recent experience delivering the Reith Lectures.

After refreshments we will meet in small groups, each convened by a group analyst, to talk about the implications of Gwen’s dedication to practice in the working lives of others; and we will then reassemble for a Large Group.
